The Central Coast is a peri-urban area in the Australian state of New South Wales that is located on the Tasman Sea coast between Sydney and Newcastle. As of June 2018, there were 333,627 people living in the Central Coast Council's local government area, an increase of 1% yearly. The region, which includes towns like Gosford, Wyong, and Terrigal, is the third-largest in New South Wales and the ninth-largest in Australia. Geographically, the area defined by the Hawkesbury River in the south, the Watagan Mountains in the west, and the southern end of Lake Macquarie, which is located on the Sydney basin, is often regarded as the Central Coast.
